About Andy

Andy Schulgasser has worked and volunteered as an animal behavior specialist and humane educator for the past 20 years. She has always felt a deep connection with animals, and she has educated people at animal shelters & rescues throughout the US about prevention of cruelty, and kindness towards animals.
Her experience started in childhood picking up stray dogs, and continued as an adult as she became knowledgeable about cats & other animals needing help. This has included volunteering and interning at farm animal sanctuaries.  She currently has three furry friends of her own: two cats, Alex and Ingrid, (named after the co-founders of PETA,) and a dog named Jane, (after animal activist Dr. Jane Goodall.)
Andy strives to educate people with the basics for preventing behavior problems in their pets,
so they can enjoy happy, long lasting relationships. In addition, she networks to provide animal friendly apartment and home rentals so people can remain with their pets.
Many years ago, after learning about animals used in experiments, for food, clothing and entertainment, Andy chose to change her life so she would no longer be contributing to animal suffering. This included becoming a vegan 20 years ago. She enjoys the many great vegan foods available, and has many resources listed on the Links page
